Instrument and measuring principle
A defined amount of particulate materials is tapped in a graduated cylinder a predetermined number of times and the change in volume is recorded.

Instrument:

  • Pharma-Test PT-PD tester,
       Ph.Eur.

    Parameters and applications
Poured density and tapped density is determined according to the procedure described in Ph.Eur.
The difference between these densities describes the cohesiveness and compressibility of the substance.

    Prerequisite
    80 – 150 g of substance.
